The Overland Expo Foundation is proud to announce the awarding of a $5,500 grant to First Due Overland for their 2026 Stewardship & Responsible Recreation Initiative Project. First Due Overland’s mission is to Educate, Encourage & Inspire others to get out and explore in a safe and respectful manner in order to preserve natures raw beauty.

ABOUT First Due Overland

First Due Overland exists at the intersection of adventure and service. While they share their journey today through storytelling, they are actively building toward a future where the trail becomes a path to healing.
Their long-term goal is to serve as a dedicated resource for first responders, military personnel, and families navigating loss, grief, and the unique pressures of high-stress environments.
They believe in the restorative power of nature.
By facilitating supportive overland expeditions, they aim to provide a space where their community can disconnect from the noise, find their footing in a “new normal,” and replace the weight of duty with the peace of the outdoors.

The Impact

The First Due Overland 2026 Stewardship & Responsible Recreation Initiative is a first responder–founded effort to clean, restore, and educate in some of the most heavily used dispersed camping and trail corridors along Washington’s I-90 corridor.

Their primary 2026 focus is on two high-impact areas surrounding Snoqualmie Pass (North Fork and the Salmon La Sac dispersed camping zones), where they will remove trash and debris, dismantle unsafe fire rings, brush overgrown spur roads, and provide on-site responsible recreation education.

In addition to these two anchor projects, they plan to incorporate smaller-scale cleanup efforts into other First Due Overland trips and events throughout the 2026 season. This allows them to extend the impact of the grant across multiple locations within the overland community.
